UNDERSTANDING THE FEELING

Why do I feel lonely all the time?

There isn’t one explanation for everyone. Loss, transitions, isolation, or a mismatch between the relationships you have and the closeness you want may play a part.

Notice when it gets heavier

Make a brief note of the time, what happened beforehand, and what you needed. This is a way to describe your experience, not a test or diagnosis.

Ask for more support

If loneliness is affecting daily life, or low mood has lasted more than two weeks, speak with a health professional. You can also ask for help sooner. You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable.

A small thing to try

For an appointment, try: ‘I’ve felt lonely most days for ___. It’s affecting ___. I’d like help understanding it and what support might fit.’
